Non-Profit Launches Redesigned Web Sites

May 17, 2004
May 17, 2004 WASHINGTON, DC The American Council on Science and Health (ACSH) recently launched their redesigned web sites, ACSH.org and HealthFactsandFears.com.  Built using the eResources Content Management System, the sites establish a strong online presence for the nation’s premier organization for objective health news.

Cheryl Martin, Associate Director at ACSH, said, "It has indeed been a pleasure to work with eResources in the development of our new site.   They are a professional team that diligently worked to meet our unique needs and expectations.  We at ACSH are happy with the web site’s contemporary design, distinctive features, and benefits that it offers to our visitors."

eResources CEO Dusty Gulleson noted, “We have truly enjoyed working with Beth Whelan and the ACSH staff.  The advanced functionality of their new web sites will allow them to effectively communicate with the media, scientific community, and the public.  eResources prides itself on providing affordable technology solutions for non-profit organizations.” eResources worked with ACSH during the initial phase of the process, developing web site requirements for their grant proposal.  Once the grant was awarded, the eResources design team developed a new “look and feel” for both sites.  The new color scheme creates a sharp online identity for ACSH.org; HealthFactsandFears.com also has a distinct look.  The overall navigation is maintained throughout the site, making it easier for users to find information on both sites.   The Health Facts and Fears site features the new eResources Blog module.  ACSH writers can quickly publish commentary on hot topics, and registered users can post responses.  The Blog module includes a fully searchable archive, and is integrated with the ACSH.org content management system.  This allows ACSH staff to tag content for both sites, and lowers their overall cost of ownership.      ACSH’s new sites utilize eResources’ eCommerce and Online Donations module.  This functionality allows ACSH to create multiple online revenue streams.  ACSH books and other publications can be purchased through their new online store, and users can make secure online contributions to support ACSH.  These transactions can be tracked with the ‘My ACSH’ feature.  This Personalization will allow users to register, create a profile, and signup for automated email notifications on key issues.

The new web sites include a number of other customized modules.  The Health Issues section is a comprehensive resource center for disseminating ACSH’s scientific research.  Users can access press releases and organizational updates in the News Center.  Also, ASCH can easily administer upcoming conferences and dinners though their Event Manager.
