Moving Project Management Online

July 25, 2002
WASHINGTON, DC  -  The Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) has selected eResources to develop a paperless project management system. Using the Internet to centralize project administration, the system is a custom application based on the eResources Content Management System (eRCMS).

Client members of the Council will be able to solicit work from CCCU departments by logging on to a section of the system through the Internet. Using the same connection, clients will be able to receive project status updates and provide input as the project progresses. CCCU staff members will be able to use the system to collaborate on project work online and provide status reports. As the system is a Web-based application, clients and staff members alike can log on and view progress reports or update project work from any computer that has an Internet connection.

“Any organization spends a great deal of time and money managing its work,” said Dusty Gulleson, eResources president. “The system that we’re developing with CCCU will go a long way towards enhancing their productivity. The eRCMS platform was built with an eye towards making the administration of Web content nearly as easy as using a word processor. Migrating project management to a Web-based system should greatly improve project communication internally for CCCU in addition to saving a few trees.”

Gulleson pointed out that the Web-based system will save time in addition to money. “The eRCMS system can really streamline the process and keep staff focused on the task at hand. If a client were to call for a status update on a large project, for instance, a CCCU staff member could pass on a Web address and a password—rather than spend time tracking down people from all the CCCU departments working on the project to get a status update in person or on the telephone. That’s just one way that this eRCMS system will benefit CCCU. And in the end, I think that the savings CCCU will see should speak for themselves.”

The project management system is scheduled to go online in the first quarter of 2003.
