Helping HNIP Open Doors of Opportunity

July 1, 2002

WASHINGTON, DC  -  eResources announced that it will collaborate with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) to create an online application system for the HACU National Internship Program (HNIP), the nation’s largest Hispanic college internship program.

In addition to developing an online application for the internship program, eResources will collaborate with HNIP to develop a comprehensive suite of online tools to assist the association in all aspects of administering the internship program. These functions range from tracking a prospective intern’s application to real-time updating of HNIP Web content.

The HACU National Internship Program is the nation’s largest Hispanic internship program, with nearly 600 students participating during the 2001-2002 academic year. The program’s rapid growth made it necessary to implement a solution that would provide a networked means of managing the thousands of records necessary to administer the program from both the Washington, D.C. and San Antonio offices.

To meet HNIP’s growing needs, eResources and HNIP will work together to create a customized solution based on the eRCMS platform. “Since HNIP was looking for some flexibility in administering their application process, as well as an easily scalable solution, eRCMS is the perfect solution,” said Dusty Gulleson, eResources president. The new Web-based system will allow interested students to apply online, and allow administrators to view a candidate’s data and profile online.

HNIP administrators will be able to access program data from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. “The internship program is demanding enough of its administrators as it is,” continued Gulleson, “so we’ve tried to make things as easy as possible on the technology end. We’re working towards a system for HNIP that won’t demand much more technological proficiency from its users than being able to browse the Internet and using Microsoft Word. With that, they should be able to do everything—including keeping their Web site completely up-to-date, without knowing one jot of HTML.”

The new application system is slated to be ready for launch by January 2003.
