The Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) has selected eResources to create a fully customized online application system based on the eResources Content Management System (eRCMS) for their BestSemester study programs. The new system, a custom application built using eRCMS, will allow students to apply online for the program or programs of their choice. CCCU’s study programs are semesters away from school, ranging from film studies in Los Angeles to Russian study programs in Moscow, Nizhni Novgorod, and St. Petersburg. The application system, a Web-based program built on the eRCMS platform, provides CCCU administrators the advantages of being able to update their Web content with minimal training and no knowledge of HTML, provides CCCU with the ability to administer the program from any computer with an Internet connection, and significantly reduces the overhead associated with the admissions process by centralizing data and rendering the admissions process paperless. “Using an Internet-based application system has the inherent advantage of streamlining the entire process from both the applicant’s and administrator’s perspective,” said Dusty Gulleson, eResources President. “Not only will this application make it easier for students to apply, but it will bring noticeable changes to the administration side. Since applicant data is stored in a centralized location on the Internet, CCCU administrators will save a lot of time processing the applications. And as it’s a paperless process, there’s very little time spent filing, and little to no money spent mailing admissions notifications.” Gulleson also noted that the custom program provided CCCU with further cost savings. “CCCU can administer the program using the software they already have on hand, and we’ve developed the system so they don’t need to learn new skill sets. We worked hard with CCCU to make sure that this system, more than anything else, makes it easier and cheaper for them to administer this program. That’s really what the eRCMS platform is all about.” The new application system is scheduled to be online in time for the 2003 academic year.
