WASHINGTON, DC – eResources was recently selected by American Council on Science and Health (ACSH) to upgrade their online presence and technology infrastructure. Utilizing the latest generation of the eResources Content Management System (eRCMS), eResources will redesign both the main site, ACSH.org, as well as its sister site, HealthFactsandFears.com. In addition, eResources’ outsourced IT department will assist ACSH in improving their internal technology infrastructure. Dusty Gulleson, President and CEO of eResources said, "eResources is uniquely positioned to help non-profits tackle all their IT needs from presenting a professional image to the world online to making sure the internal IT infrastructure functions efficiently. eResources is a full service firm that provides every IT need any organization will encounter." The eRCMS will become ACSH’s primary means of delivering their content to diverse audiences. The eRCMS is flexible and scalable, allowing ACSH to include a project subsite and plan for future growth. eResources is also developing a number of web applications to provide advanced functionality for the web site. The new ACSH site will include News Center, a personalized ‘My ACSH’ module, an eCommerce Storefront, Event Management capability, Membership Directory, and a Discussion Forum. Cheryl Martin, Associate Director at ACSH, noted, "ACSH chose eResources because of their excellent track record helping nonprofit organizations. The eResources Content Management System will help us reach our audience, increase web traffic, and cut costs through productivity and workflow. We’re very excited to have eResources as a partner." The infrastructure upgrade will provide ASCH with the technology resources necessary to efficiently run their organization. The comprehensive overhaul includes new computers for each employee, along with relevant software updates. "The infrastructure upgrades will help put our organization on the cutting edge of technology without breaking the bank. eResources’ IT outsourcing team will perform a full audit of our current technology, and determine how to best meet our needs," said Martin. ACSH will also acquire a number of other tools such as a scanner, digital camera, color laser printer, plasma television, and LCD projector. The project will also target ACSH’s security and data management system. Cris Ellington, Vice President for IT Services, said, "eResources has helped many non-profits upgrade their system wide IT infrastructure while saving them cost and time. What is the most helpful part of our service is that we don’t leave after the work is done but provide ongoing support and help desk services." The anticipated launch date for the new ACSH web site is February 2004. ABOUT ACSH The American Council on Science and Health, Inc. (ACSH) is a consumer education consortium concerned with issues related to food, nutrition, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, lifestyle, the environment, and health. ACSH is an independent, nonprofit, tax-exempt organization. ACSH was founded in 1978 by a group of scientists who had become concerned that many important public policies related to health and the environment did not have a sound scientific basis. These scientists created the organization to add reason and balance to debates about public health issues and bring common sense views to the public.
